Almost finished!

This is a portrait of another one of our three bunnies. Bammer is a beautiful, shiny, pure black little guy. I have decided to paint him as "The Black Prince" hence the similar coat of arms to the Black Prince of England, similar but very different!

The other difference being the Black Prince of England had black armor, where as Bammer's armor is the normal steel color.

Whats with the apple? There is an apple in the portrait of Misha also, and there will be one in their other brother Tancill's portrait. The apple represents the sweetness of the life they now have, we rescued the three of them when they were barely four weeks old from under the cement step of an office building in a business park. They are the descendants of feral bunnies that were "dumped" after their owners grew tired of them. This is a subject that I could rant on and on about but I will stop here.

I still have a little more to do on the painting before I frame it and move on to Tancill's painting, he is going to be portrayed as an 18th century English Naval Captain or Admiral.

One of my Latest!

This is a painting that I made as a gift for our Exotic Animal Veterinarian - we have three bunnies.

We are very lucky that we have a great vet, who just opened his new state-of-the-art hospital very close to where we live!

I based "Dr. Iggy" on a victorian painting, and added the stethoscope, it was a very fun project and was very well received! :-)

The second assignment was to do a value sketch of a portion of any of the sculpture photos that the teacher posted on her travel blog so I chose this statue.

My Homework Assignment

My art teacher Michelle is having the trip of a lifetime in Europe right now but she still has time to post assignments for the class from her blog.

This weeks assignment is to do a sketch that incorporates both architecture and plants.

I chose this photo that I took many years ago on a trip to Ireland and England.
Its a shame that I cannot remember exactly where this photo was taken, but I think it was in Ireland.

Wax Carving

I am almost finished carving the wax of my octopus. I hope to have him cast in silver and he will be holding the lapis stone shown in the photo. The casting process will depend on if I can get a local jeweler to do it!

Years ago I worked for a jeweler friend of mine, I would design and carve waxes for original pieces. I really enjoyed doing this and I am hoping that I can get some consignment work from one of the local jewelers who's work I really like. We shall see!

Just Do It!

I am hoping that blogging will help me to overcome my artistic "block". Blogging does not come easy to me, I have never really expressed myself in words, always pictures. The other problem is that I tend to overuse exclamation marks and commas!

So what I plan to do is try to post some kind of art daily, it doesn't have to be anything finished or grand just something!

I have had a "block" for many, many years now, and just recently I found a wonderful teacher who is helping me to overcome my artistic fears and most importantly I am learning the proper techniques of oil, acrylic, watercolor and other media.

I have been creating art all my life but at some point I lost the creative drive, even though things inspired me I just didn't follow through and create, but that is all going to change!
